Amazing !! Completely handstiched vintage (circa 1940’s) blanket, this is totally unique and a rare and wonderful item from the Lahore region of Pakistan – a fabulous find, we love it!
An ancient skilled craft that would have been taught and passed down through generations- each and every line in the pattern of this beautiful blanket has been handstiched ( a type of sewing called Kantha) and each of the stitches is absolutely tiny – see close up photos
This is a particularly colourful one ( we have another one in paler colours) and very bohemian. It has lots of old repairs and a few patches of different coloured fabrics which make it all the more interesting.
Made from thick cotton, the blanket has a good weight to it ( has a quilted feel to it as it’s so thick) and is reversible- would make a great throw or fabulous piece of art hung on a wall- a great talking point!
Has been carefully and gently hand washed and line dried (we recommend to do this when it needs washing- too delicate for the washing machine I’m afraid!) but has a few age related marks and stains- and is perfectly imperfect
It measures approximately 185cm x 118cm
Price includes postage to uk mainland only – please message for price if further away.
